Where Mind Excels Matter
Robotics Competition
FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL®) introduces younger students to real-world engineering challenges by building LEGO-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. FLL teams, guided by their imaginations and adult coaches, discover exciting career possibilities and, through the process, learn to make positive contributions to society. Elementary and middle-school students get to:
iExcell teams have been participating in the FLL competition for over six years. Our teams have won several awards over the years such as: robot design, best project and championship. iEXCELL teams have participated in the regional and state level championships.
ExploraVision
ExploraVision is a science innovation competition by Toshiba and the NSTA, National Science Teachers Association. ExploraVision challenges and encourages young explorers to apply scientific principles to envision future technologies and imagine themselves as contributors of the future. iEXCELL teams choose a current technology, research, and then envision what it will look like in 20 years. Each team brainstorms ideas about the technology that could be improved and enhanced to better our environment, society, and world. Once they decide on the technology, the group works together in creating their project that consists of pros and cons, consequences, the process, history, obstacles, and abstract of the technology. An illustration of the future technology is expected, along with the website the team created for the project. The projects are then sent in to be reviewed and judged.
